Two weeks after purchasing a new GMC pickup, I had to have a diagnostic run due to the check engine light coming on. When I went to the dealer, the service tech said it most likely wouldn't be covered under warranty. After spending $60,000 I was charged $195 for 5 minutes of work.

Mr.Schmeidler, As was communicated to you on the day of diagnosis, this fuel leak was caused by the aftermarket flatbed you had installed on the pickup. When the flatbed was installed, it compromised the fuel fill system. We do charge a diagnostic fee for non warrantable repairs. In your case, the fuel system had a code p0455 set large leak detected. The tech performed a purge/seal function test on the evap system and found with the vent closed and purge @ 20% the fuel tank pressure sensor would not decrease below -2 H2O. Smoked evap system found aftermarket (not GM) fuel cap and fuel neck vapor vent line leaking at the fuel neck. We recommended a GM up-fitter fuel fill neck and gas cap to ensure proper sealing. Mr.Schmeidler, I believe you chose to take the vehicle back the installer of the bed to fix the problem we found for you. The tech should be compensated for his time and knowledge, hence the diagnostic fee. We do appreciate your business. If you have any further questions or concerns please reach out. The service done on the vehicle was satisfactory as far as we know at this point. However, when I went in to the service department to pay the bill, I asked for two separate invoices since I was paying for the oil change and another dealership was paying for the rest. First of all they were told ahead of time that a dealership was paying for part of the repairs and the oil change was being paid by me. The employees acted like they could not put it on two separate invoices, but they could separate it out, which they did, but not without making a big deal about it. Furthermore they told the other dealership they would not let me take the pickup without the bill being paid and that if the other dealership had done things right in the first place, we wouldn't be having this problem. Long story short, it was not a pleasant experience and I can tell you I will never purchase another vehicle from Brogden's GMC in Hays. I guess they forgot we gave them $65,000 when we purchased the vehicle.

Lance Hunt was our sales rep. Our overall experience was very positive with all those we came into contact with. We had a issue with getting connected to OnStar, Lance was on the phone with them several times and was so patient and professional with the OnStar rep. I had a phantom electrical issue that would not allow my 2023 Sierra to start. It was parked in my garage in a very tight space. The manager of Fobert Brogden GMC drove 7 miles to my house a jumped my truck so I would have to pay for a tow truck. They got got my truck in the next day and performed the necessary service. I couldn’t ask for better service.
